Every season in the Great Smoky Mountains brings something new and exciting. Summer time is no different! With over 800 miles of trails to explore - including around 71 miles of the Appalachian Trail, there is always an awesome place to get out and explore. While there are many trails that are the "Go To" routes of generations of recreational hikers, I encourage you to get out and explore all that the Smokies has hidden for you! Along with the many hundreds of miles of trails, more and more people are enjoying the over 2100 miles of streams in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From fishing to picnicking to finding that secret swimming hole on a steamy day, there are truly more treasures than one can fully discover in a lifetime! You are very likely to run across plants, animals and insects that you have never or mostly likely ever will encounter in your lifetime in other parts of the world. Over 17,000 different species have been identified living in the park, and with a wide swing on estimates of undiscovered species there could be as many as 80,000 more! If you are looking for an awesome educational adventure for your family, or you are simply looking to get out and find yourself, The Smokies are a Great place to begin your search!
